Drawn to the Library - Celebrate National Library Week April 6–12, 2025
[Algonquin, IL] – Libraries are so much more than places to check out books! From digital collections and job assistance to makerspaces and creative programming, libraries are integral to thriving communities. National Library Week, held April 6–12, 2025, is the perfect time to celebrate how libraries spark imagination, bring people together, and support lifelong learning.
At the Algonquin Area Public Library, we invite the community to join us in celebrating National Library Week! Whether you're a regular visitor or haven’t stopped by in a while, now is the ideal time to explore the many ways the library serves you. We provide a range of services such as free Wi-Fi, digital collections, career and self enhancement workshops, makerspaces, reading programs, and so much more, ensuring that everyone in our community has access to resources that educate, inspire, and connect.
This year’s theme, "Drawn to the Library," encourages patrons to share what brings them to the library. Whether you’re preparing for a career change, launching a business, raising a family, or enjoying retirement, the AAPLD is here to support you. Our library is a hub for learning, creativity, and connection, helping people of all ages explore new ideas and opportunities.
Each day during National Library Week, we will highlight some of the amazing resources available with an AAPLD library card, some familiar, others surprising! Pick up your invitation at the Adult Services Desk at either location starting April 6, share what draws you to the library, and drop your entry into the Drawn to the Library box for a chance to win a fun prize. Don’t forget to spread the word—encourage your friends to sign up for their own library card!
Stop by for National Library Week activities, including a complimentary edition of National Library Week Mad Libs, coloring sheets for kids (and adults!), and plenty of fun crafts. Everyone who enters the drawing will receive a small gift, a chip clip (one per person, while supplies last). Plus, two lucky winners will take home baskets filled with library-inspired items and gift cards to fuel their creative passions.
National Library Week has been celebrated annually since 1958, sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country to highlight the essential role libraries play in our communities.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
